Perl and PHP are very similar...easy to transition between the languages....although I believe Perl has more ability to communicate with the server root than PHP..at least that is one thing I found when trying to transpose a Perl script to PHP...could not be done. Can't recall exactly what it was, vaguely recall trying to load a Ming movie (swf) file to show on webby....that icon that tells you the movie is loading.
I got a script now that can lower the bytes dramatically on swf files, so no loading icon was necessary. LingoLinda
