Locations made famous by TV or Movies 2
From Jan 1995 to Aug 1997 I was production superintendent and then plant manager of Bibb company's Juliette, Ga. textile plant. About 300 yards upstream on the Ocmulgee River was a movie set used in Fried Green Tomatoes. The Whistle Stop Café was the main attraction and the only pre-existing building in the entire set. All the other shops and facades were built for the movie. The Café business was created for the movie and appeared exactly as it had on the big screen, including the period furnishings and the BBQ pit out back.
This was a tourist trap and always had a tour bus parked out front at lunch time. Locals knew to call ahead and the staff would announce to the tourists waiting on the porch and in the yard that local workers were coming for lunch and would be seated on arrival. It took about 3 or 4 sittings to handle most buses, so they were going to be there a while anyway.
If you're up to lunch in a quaint café on the banks of a quiet river with an active railroad 10 feet away and a great view of the remains of the world's largest grist mill on the opposite bank; then you should try the Whistle Stop -- and don't forget to order the fried green tomatoes. Oh, BTW, they serve ice tea in mason jars.

Unlike the Snappy Lunch, the menus are not free for the taking.
