J. Henry's Restaurant, Griffin Ga. 1982: Dinner for movie crew in private dining room. "Murder in Coweta County" starring Andy Griffith as the villain. I was visiting my wife at work before reporting to my work. Andy Griffith was dining with the crew. He was very rude to my wife and her helper.
Andy was with the crew on a couple of other visits and my wife said he was just the same on each visit. Johnny Cash even called him out about his language on one occasion.
My take on Andy from that time on was that he was no Sheriff Andy Taylor. I met a distant cousin of his at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church in Concord, Va. and he said that was typical Andy. A recent article in the local newspaper, written by a columnist who had interviewed Andy as a cub reporter, put it this way " I'm not suggesting Andy was a bad person. Let's just say he was not very approachable."
