Now, this is where the "ADVANCED" comes into play. I will review what you should already know. But, I want to emphasize how these rules in tabling determine HOW I will put this design together. I will not be using the col span nor the row span in this tutorial. Straight counted out tables. I think it is the best way to not confuse you. Tables that go across are in rows. Tables that go up and down are columns. If I am tabling downward, everything has to be equal in those columns (width). If I am tabling sideways, everything has to be equal in those rows (height). If your design is not equal, you make it equal with "empty" tables. I do my design in sections. I determine these sections on my graph paper, based on what I just talked about -- the equal columns and equal rows. I LATER snap my sections together with "holding" tables. You will be "nesting" tables inside of tables. Again, I will show you in stages. Here is what my design looks like now---I used a purple pencil to determine my sections and I named them. You will use those names in your code. This will be a Godsend when you have to find boo-boos. Always label those sections in your code! |
