First you will need some small plain colored gifs, one for each different color in your graph. The graph below uses only two colors, green and red. Each gif is only 5x5, but can be resized readily in the image tags.

Instead of the plain colored gifs, try using some textured background gifs, or buttons. You can also make the gifs taller than wide, so the bars are vertical instead of horizontal. Who says that graphs have to be boring?
