DATING YOUR IMAGES
by Flo
My File Manager has a feature for finding the date that an image or html, etc, file was entered into it. I just put the cursor on the file name and the date appears in the status bar. But for Page Builder or FMs that don't have this feature, you'll have to post your image in one of the imaging newsgroups

Then click on its url when your post shows. Hit the Info key - the pop-up will show the url and the date.

But sometimes the year of the date won't show, due to the character number restriction on that pop-up. Not to worry - here's what I found on an image in a newsgroup recently:

   name-of-image.jpg
   Address: http://url.jpg
   Changed:11:58 AM on Wednesday, November 5, 2003

The 2003 was missing from the pop-up. But it showed after I hit cmd+A and then copied and pasted it here.

Another way: From now on, when you finish an image and go to Output, scroll down to the Options. At the bottom is a text box so you can enter your own comments. I always "sign" my images this way, too, plus the date.

Then I TL to my FM.

If you want to know the date, take the image to an IM and click on View. Scroll down through all the ID stuff and you'll find your comment clear at the end of that list.

But comments can be easily deleted by checkmarking the box underneath the comment box at all IM outputs.

Suggestion from Diana: "If you ever have a 'true and original' image of/by yourself that you don't wish to give out at all, add your comments and output/convert the image into a .SWF. Only PC users with special macromedia SW can erase your comments after that. SWFs cannot be altered by webby users."

However, after trying to follow Diana's advice about outputting as a .SWF file, I didn't see any .swf extension in the choices for output at IM. So perhaps this also requires a computer.
