Meet Sally

1. When did you first go on line?

I first went on line January 2000....

2. Did you start with MSNTV?

I actually had a PC for about three years before I got my webby. We did not get along. To me it was a glorified typewriter. I never learned anything on it.

Then January 2000....I went to my local Radioshack and bought the only WEBTV they had and that I had been waiting for. I was so nervous about setting it up that the clerk stopped by my house after work to help. He lives about four miles from me and passes my house on his way home.

3. Do you now have a PC and MSNTV ?

When I bought my WEBTV, I gave the PC monitor to someone, the keyboard and mouse to someone else, the printer to someone else; and the harddrive may still be in the garage...

I have two back-up WEBTV Pluses.

4. What is your passion on line?

My passion on line is gradtables. Being able to make pictures with code and make them move is still a thrill for me. I'm always amazed at what can be achieved and how close the finished product is to the original picture in my mind.

5. What led you into your passion....who was your mentor?

My fifth day on line a lady answered a question for me in private mail, that I had posted in a help group. She taught me html from the ground up. I am still in touch with her, and she'll never know how much I appreciate what she did.

My first website was in pagebuilder and when it was finished I got free space at geocities and made a graphics site, the pagebuilder site was deleted...

When that was finished, I signed up for paid webspace, and deleted the graphics site...

6. What got you started ?

It was at this time I saw a tank made out of buttons....and said "I want to do that!" I met Paulie and as time passed met all the Tooters...Each one of them has taught me more than they'll ever know. Paulie has been a continual inspiration and in those first months of learning gradtables was so encouraging !! But all the Tooters are an inspiration and are always there for help and encouragement.

7. How did you learn?

I printed s-mans great tute and tabled and tabled and tabled and tabled and....

8.What advice would would give someone who would like to learn how?

Grab some tutes, some CCP code, and a Tooter, and table.... Ask a lot of questions, and remember that there is no right or wrong way to table.....there is YOUR way.

9. What, in your opinion, is the hardest part ?

The most difficult thing is deciding what to learn next. And turning this LBB off to do my real life...LOL!!

10. What new endeavors are you persuing?

I love making pictures with code. I'm exploring using class not only to make web pages but to do grad tables. I want to take my ByteBudget skills to a higher level. The TandemTables server has the MING library and I'm learning to make pictures using MING. I'm also learning to use the PHP GD library to code pictures.

11. What's the best thing about being on MSNTV ?

The best thing for me is the group of people I'm so fortunate to have around me; the Tandem Team. When we were able to procur our own server, it was my dream come true...as much space as we wanted, being able to customize the server and being able to provide a place for the WEBTV Community to go; as well as the NG, to learn tables and html, to find needed tools and tutes and to save precious artwork.
