Last month Becky showed how to use a negative Implode in the F/X tool at Image Magick. After converting the image this way, then she composited the original, using the Difference filter.
Now we'll move on to two images. For the background image I used: click here. For the second image, a dancer, click here.
1) Put the url for the dancer into your Find box.
2) Take the url of the background image to the IM of your choice. When you have the image onscreen, click on Resize. Enter 213x280! into the box, then click on the radio button Resize. Click on the Resize button below this. This makes the bg image 10 pixels wider and higher than the dancer image.
3) On the next screen, click on the F/X tab near the top.
4) Delete the 60 and type in -100 (remember, that's a minus sign in front of the 100.) Now click on Implode, then the Effect button below this. Result
5) Click on the Composite tab at the top. On the next screen, copy and enter the url of the dancer into the box. Set the Gravity to Center. Set the options to Dstout. Then click on the Compose button. Result Although the result I saved shows a black silhouette, what you will see onscreen at IM will be a white silhouette. The "white" area is really transparent.
6) Resize again, this time delete the numbers that show the size of this image and type in 105%. Scroll down to the Options. Type in 10 in the Blur box and select Gaussian from the dropdown next to it. Click on Resize. Result You may see a big white splotch inside the silhouette. If this appears, don't be concerned about it.
7) Go back to Composite. The url for the dancer should still be in the box, plus the Gravity should still be set to Center. Change the optional Compose filter to Over. Now click on Compose button. Result Now you'll have an image with a blurred shadow around it.
If you decide to Resize smaller, remember to get rid of the optional blur before cllcking on Resize. Had I chosen a darker bg with more colors, the negative implode oval would show up better.
Becky and I hope you will try using two images to composite together after altering one of them in the F/X tool. Play around. If you don't like the results, use the Back key and try something different.
