MAKING COLSPAN & ROWSPAN
TABLES BEHAVE

Sometimes when people use either the colspan or the rowspan attribute in the first row or column of a table, the webby browser doesn't read the heights and widths correctly. If this happens and you can't make the @#$%& table behave, take heart. There's a very simple solution!

  1. To set WIDTHS: Make a row of cells across the top that have WIDTH, but no height. This way these cells set the widths for the rest of the cells below them.

  2. To set HEIGHTS: START EACH ROW with a cell that has HEIGHT, but no width.

These width- and height-setters will not show up in the table, to ruin your great piece of table art.

Great Piece of Minimalist
Table Art!
